There are very few countries on Earth with a population as stupid as the United States. In fact, you would struggle in vain to find a single one. I certainly can’t think of any.
For quite some time, the United States has been riding on a reputation it no longer deserves. A reputation hard-won by previous generations and then squandered away in recent decades. On Tuesday, America finally divorced itself completely from its former self. We proved to the world, once and for all, that we no longer deserve our reputation for goodness. We are not a good and decent people any longer, at least the majority of this country is not. We are no longer a beacon of democracy, a shining example of constitutional government for others to emulate. Rather, we are now the perfect example of what not to be.
While most Americans are too stupid to realize it, the rest of the world is not. They are not wrapped up in the cult of Trump. Blinded by partisanship, their minds warped by a steady diet of bullshit lies from propaganda factories like Fox News. They are not so selfish and so stupid as to throw away their freedoms in the ridiculous belief that by doing so, they will save 75 cents on a carton of eggs.
Le Monde, the largest newspaper in France put it plainly. They wrote that Donald Trump’s election “marks the end of an American era, that of an open superpower committed to the world, eager to set itself up as a democratic model.” They went on to say that America’s reputation as a strong and healthy democracy “had been challenged over the past two decades. Now, Trump’s return is putting a nail in its coffin.”
The rest of the democratic world understands that Donald Trump’s reelection is a disaster for America. And not just for America, but for the rest of the world as well. Our stupidity will have dire consequences across the globe. Alliances that have held since the end of the last world war will now come to an end. Authoritarians will be empowered and emboldened. Because of the selfishness, unseriousness, and rank stupidity of the American People, the world just became a much more dangerous place. The people who voted for Donald Trump are too stupid to see this, of course. But they soon will. Perhaps they will finally see the error of their ways when their sons, and perhaps their daughters, are drafted to fight in World War III on the side of Russia against our former democratic allies. Perhaps they will finally realize their mistake when the price of virtually everything skyrockets as a result of the trade war they voted for. I don’t give a damn how much these people suffer as a result of voting for Donald Trump. They deserve it. The problem is that the rest of us will suffer as well, and we certainly do not deserve it.
