Do you remember when Republicans used to pretend to be conservatives who believed in federalism and states rights? Seems like a long time ago, but I remember.
Watch this short clip of phony conservative Mark Levin speaking with Trump’s would-be “Border Czar” Tom Homan. They are talking about forcing the states to help Donald Trump round up and deport millions of people.

Let us understand why they are angry. They are angry because the federal government does not have the resources or manpower to carry out Trump’s massive deportations, so they want to force the states to help him. But they cannot force the states to help Trump do anything because that is not how it works. The states do not work for the the federal government. If they don’t want to help Trump, they don’t have to. So Mark Levin and his Nazi friend want to punish states by withholding federal money. I say… go ahead! States need to stop taking federal money. If they do, then Trump loses all his leverage over the states. Bribing states with money is the only power the federal government has to try to force states to do what they want. States should tell Trump to go pound sand!
Also, keep in mind that the President cannot just withhold money from the states as he sees fit. Congress allocates the money. The President has no discretion over most of the money that states get from the federal government.
Another point. Trump wants state and local police to stop doing the job they are supposed to be doing in order to help Trump round up immigrants. But wait… I thought our cities are shitholes that are infested with crime. So Trump wants them to stop doing law enforcement and instead spend their time acting as federal immigration officers? Once the criminals realize that the police are not doing law enforcement any more, crime will skyrocket.
Finally, why do they even need state and local police to help enforce immigration law? I thought Trump was going to use the military. Could it be that Mark Levin and his buddy Adolf realize that it would be illegal for Trump to use the military in that way? Could it be that they know the American People would be appalled to see uniformed military in our communities rounding up people door-to-door?
To hell with these guys and to hell with Trump. Their Orange Cult leader made these promises, let him figure out how to carry them out. The states should tell Trump to go fuck himself!
One last point… This is how the states should deal with Trump on other issues as well, not just his mass deportation plan. The states need to embrace their own authority under the Constitution. They do not need to take orders from Trump on this or any other issue. Trump can only be a dictator if we let him.
