Since Donald Trump’s election victory, he and his mindless cult have been claiming to have a “mandate” to enact all of his insane proposals. Good, let them believe that. Let them take action on all their lunatic fever dreams. They will learn in short order that they do not have the mandate they think they do. They will dramatically overreach. Guaranteed. And they will pay the price for their hubris.
Donald Trump won, but it was nowhere close to the landslide he claims that it was. In fact, his margin of victory was so small that it ranks only 16th in post-World War II elections. While his victory in the electoral college was comfortable, he won the popular vote by only 1.6 percent. Hardly a landslide.
The truth is that Trump won, but he is not popular. He has never been popular. And once he starts pushing through all his batshit crazy policies, his approval ratings will sink like a stone. So go ahead, MAGA. Have at it! Keep telling yourself you have a “mandate.” The midterm elections are right around the corner.
